The Gangzha Economic Development Zone in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, saw a steady recovery in the sales of consumer-related sectors during the week-long Spring Festival holiday which lasted from Jan 21-27, local media reported.

Among the business circles in the zone that saw a spike in sales growth was Wulonghui, which has numerous commercial complexes.

Official statistics show that the gross sales of seven major businesses in the circle jumped 18.3 percent year-on-year to nearly 100 million yuan ($14.74 million). For example, the turnover of Sam's Supermarket, which is located in Wulonghui, reached record levels during the seven-day holiday.

At Longxin Plaza, the customer flow on Jan 22, the first day of the holiday, was over 60,000, while the average daily revenue was in excess of 2 million yuan during the holiday period.
