Amid roaring machines and celebration ceremonies, some factories in the Gangzha Economic Development Zone in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, maintained production during the Spring Festival holiday on Jan 21-27, local media reported.
For example, Nantong Jinghua Pharmaceutical Co Ltd resumed production on Jan 25 to ensure that there would be an ample supply of essential medicines.
On Jan 25-27, the company had 80 percent of its employees working in medicine production.
Chongchuan district, where the zone is located, also rolled out incentive measures for local enterprises that continued production during the holiday.
On Jan 21-27, above-designated-size enterprises with over 80 percent of staff working over the holiday were provided with a subsidy of up to 200,000 yuan ($29,633), according to authorities.
The measures encouraged more employees to stick to their posts during the holiday, which helped the company maintain production, said Zhou Qiming, who oversees the company's factory.
