To better enhance the role of high-tech enterprises in the district's economic development, Chongchuan district in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province has been focusing on providing local high-tech enterprises with better services.

In 2021, Chongchuan set up China's first district-level technology innovation committee to guide innovation development in the district and solve problems for local high-tech enterprises.

The authorities have also launched a series of preference policies to attract talents and provide convenience for local companies.

Among the companies that have benefited from the business environment in Chongchuan is Nantong Great Electric Co Ltd (NTGEC), which has grown into a leading enterprise in the field of electric wire harnesses for commercial vehicles.

At present, NTGEC has a headquarters, six production bases, and one research institute and is managing three subsidiary high-tech enterprises.

The current goal of NTGEC is to expand its business in the passenger vehicle segment and grow in influence in both the domestic and international markets, said Ye Jianfeng, director of the engineering technology center of the NTGEC.

Ye also said that the company will continue to upgrade its products to be in line with the "intelligent trend".

Due to its good performance in the high-tech industry, NTGEC was rated as the provincial "little giant" enterprise in 2020. It was also among the first group of enterprises in Jiangsu that were listed on the Beijing Stock Exchange in 2021.

"The district will continue to encourage the development of high-tech enterprises. By the end of 2023, Chongchuan aims to have the number of high-tech enterprises exceed 500 and have the output value of the high-tech industry account for 62 percent of the total," said Shen Bin, director of the science and technology office in Chongchuan.
