Nantong Fourth People's Hospital is also known as the Center of Mental Health of Nantong, the Brain Hospital of Nantong, and the Affiliated Mental Health Center of Nantong University.
Founded in 1969 and now located in the Nantong Gangzha Economic Development Zone, Nantong Fourth People's Hospital is a public non-profit grade three facility that integrates medical treatment, education, scientific research, prevention, rehabilitation, training, judicial expertise, social public service, and comprehensive, coordinated development.
The hospital covers about 6.7 hectares, and has 1,200 planned beds. The reconstruction and expansion of the hospital has been included in the government's projects acting for the people. The new building will cover 59,695 square meters, and the existing building will be expanded by 9,072 sq m. At present, the comprehensive psychiatric building and the rehabilitation building are now in use.
The hospital has more than 600 employees, including more than 200 with middle and senior professional titles, and more than 20 chairpersons and vice-chairpersons of academic organizations at all levels.
The hospital's department of general psychiatry is a provincial key clinical specialty construction unit, and the departments of psychiatry, clinical psychology, mental rehabilitation and orthopedics are municipal key clinical specialties.
