New quality productive forces | Chongchuan firm dedicated to fiber innovation
Jiangsu Gem Advanced Fiber Materials Institute Co Ltd located in Chongchuan district, Nantong, Jiangsu province, has been making significant strides in the research and development of high-tech, high-functional fibers in recent years.
Established in November 2021, the fiber institute is registered in the Nantong Innovation Zone and has dual responsibilities as a research base and an external communication platform. The institute's core research and development team consists of 28 members, half of whom hold master's or doctoral degrees.
This year, the institute has also recruited 27 graduate students to join its innovation program, aiming to cultivate innovative and application-oriented talents for both the company and society.
The traditional textile industry, where fibers play a crucial role, faces intense competition and problems of low technological content and severe homogeneity, making it difficult to meet the differentiated and personalized demands of the modern era. "Increasing the research and development of high-tech, high-functional fibers is imperative," said Zhou Jialiang, deputy director of the institute.
Zhou also mentioned that the intelligent R&D of fibers has moved beyond the conceptual stage and has received significant attention in the medical field. Currently, the institute plans to find business partners to periodically launch conceptual products through continuous R&D.
