Tangzha town replicates thriving commerce from ancient times

Ancient Tangzha town in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, has become a lively place in recent days as visitors are having a great time there.
Tangzha town owes its prosperity to Zhang Jian (1853-1926), a renowned industrial magnate, educator, and scholar in Nantong, who built factories, schools, parks, and roads in the town, making it a birthplace of modern industry in China.

Tangzha is home to numerous remains of modern industries, including five under State protection and two under provincial protection.
The Beishi Block in Tangzha has been renovated into a 5G-enabled intelligent scenic area.
The face recognition system at the entrance of the scenic area is capable of counting the number of tourists, the intelligent broadcasting system can obtain meteorological data from the local observatory to report weather, and the intelligent management system can monitor the energy consumption of businesses in real time.

Beishi Block also uses holographic displays and 3D light projection to entertain tourists at night.
In addition, the block boasts a number of intangible cultural heritage items and time-honored brands, including blue calico, Shen embroidery, and Banyao kites.
Since the Beishi Block reopened in October 2021 after being renovated, it has received more than 1.63 million tourists, becoming one of the most popular attractions in Nantong.
