Rudong county in Nantong, Jiangsu province, is emerging as a rising semiconductor hub. At Shengxin Electronic Technology in the Rudong Economic Development Zone, automated lines run at full speed.

"Domestic and export orders have remained full, and our taxable sales more than doubled year-on-year," said Du Xun, the general manager.

The company invests over 10 million yuan ($1.39 million) a year in localizing radio frequency filters. It has broken the foreign monopoly and now exports overseas, helping "Chinese chips" stand firm globally.

Shengxin, among the zone's first semiconductor enterprises, focuses on surface acoustic wave (SAW) radio frequency devices. Its sesame-sized SAW filter chips help devices receive multiple signals without interference.

The field saw Shengxin achieve domestic substitution in 5G and expand into the internet of things, automotive electronics and high-precision navigation.

In May, the high-precision antenna of the new AITO M9 self-driving model used Shengxin filters. Automotive-grade products must meet stringent requirements, and the firm has obtained IATF16949 certification.

Its products attract NIO, Li Auto and other high-end automakers. With performance comparable to imports but costing only about 30 percent as much, they also draw overseas buyers. A South Korean client visited in March, and after repeated testing, bulk orders arrived in July.

Du praised the zone's excellent business environment and dedicated service. After settling in 2021, the company added equipment this year and plans to double capacity and build a world-class acoustic device base there, helping the "Shengxin smart manufacturing" brand to continue going global.
