Rugao, a city in Jiangsu province boasting one of China's highest concentration of centenarians, is home to more than 600 people aged 100 and above, alongside over 10,000 individuals aged 90 or older.

Among them is 111-year-old Wang Gaiying, who still enjoys a high level of independence. She can take care of herself, sweep the floor, wipe tables and prepare vegetables, showing remarkable vitality for her age.

According to Wang, her longevity comes from four simple daily habits: a balanced diet, staying active, maintaining a positive mindset and keeping a regular sleep schedule.

Wang follows a simple but nutritious diet. She especially enjoys freshwater fish, which is often cooked until tender and easy to digest. "Eating a variety of foods, but not overeating, is better than anything else," she often says.

For Wang, household chores are also a form of exercise. She insists on doing what she can herself, from cleaning and preparing vegetables to folding clothes. "Doing chores helps move the body and keep the muscles active. Staying active helps slow down aging," she says.

A calm and kind attitude is another part of Wang's philosophy. Known for her gentle personality and willingness to help others, she rarely argues with people. When facing frustrations, her way of letting go is simple: get some sleep. "I never take worries to bed. After a good night's sleep, many things no longer seem worth being upset about," she says.

Wang's daily routine is a model of consistency. She goes to bed at 7 pm, rises at 7 am, and fits in one or two short naps during the day — a schedule she has maintained for decades.
