The recent Dragon Boat Festival turned Rugao into a vibrant celebration of tradition, sport and community spirit, as the city came alive with folk customs, dragon boat races, fitness events and a festive atmosphere.

One of the holiday highlights took place on June 18, when the Dragon Boat Invitational Race got underway on the Longyou River. Nearly 400 athletes gathered along the waterfront, powering their boats forward in perfect rhythm, drawing enthusiastic cheers from spectators lining the riverbanks.

Beyond the excitement on the river, Rugao also encouraged residents to embrace a more active lifestyle through its 8-kilometer Rural Health Run. Open to people of all ages, the event invited participants to step outdoors, hit the course and revel in the joy of exercise amid the city's scenic countryside.
