Scania has rolled out and delivered the first batch of fire truck chassis produced at its Rugao industrial hub.
With the Rugao facility now operational, Scania is utilizing localized research, development and manufacturing to respond more quickly to customer needs. As a result, delivery lead times for chassis have been reduced from six to 10 months to around three months. Local production also helps to lower costs related to tariffs and logistics.
The chassis produced at the Rugao facility is equipped with Scania's latest Super powertrain, designed to deliver stable, efficient performance under complex operating conditions. The engine, gearbox and rear axle are all developed and manufactured by Scania, ensuring high levels of integration and improved compatibility.
In addition, the locally produced chassis features Scania's new-generation electrical and electronic system.
Scania is expanding the use of its chassis across various specialized vehicle segments, including firefighting and rescue, road clearance, sanitation and sewage operations, cold chain logistics and central axle transport.
David Kallsater, managing director of Scania Sales China, said the rollout and delivery of the first batch of fire truck chassis demonstrates the company's firm commitment to deepening its presence in China and better serving local customers.
