It is now the prime time for the spring migration of migratory birds. Located at the confluence of the Yangtze River and the Yellow Sea, Haimen district in Nantong has become the warmest "way station" for migrating birds.
With 61 kilometers of Yangtze River coastline and 25 kilometers of Yellow Sea coastline, Haimen is home to diverse ecological areas, including the Liya Mountain National Marine Park, the Jiangong Lake Ecological Park, the Yangtze River scenic belt, and the Dongzaogang Coastal Wetland.
This ecological endowment makes Haimen an ideal home for a wide variety of bird species. Every migration season, flocks of shorebirds such as dunlins, bar-tailed godwits, and avocets forage and play on the tidal flats. Egrets stand by the water, while the Eurasian spoonbill and Saunders's gull skim across the water's surface, painting a beautiful picture of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.
As Haimen's ecological environment continues to improve, an increasing number of rare birds appear in the area. To date, 86 bird species have been recorded in the region.
