Over 40 representatives from Nantong's tea community showcased Jianghai tea culture at a tea culture exchange event held in Yangzhou, Jiangsu province, on March 25.
They gathered with tea industry peers, cultural scholars and enthusiasts from Yangzhou and Taiwan to discuss their shared roots using tea as a medium, injecting Nantong's strength into the exchange and integration of cross-Strait tea culture.
During the event, Huang Xiaohui, director of the Nantong Tea Culture Promotion Center, delivered a presentation focusing on the shared attributes of tea culture between Nantong and Taiwan. She expressed a firm commitment to collaboratively preserving and advancing the rich traditional Chinese culture alongside Taiwan's tea community.
In the tea culture exchange segment, various tea-making techniques such as Tang Dynasty (618-907) tea boiling, Taiwan's double-cup brewing, diancha, a tea-making technique resembling latte art of the Song Dynasty (960-1279), and Yangzhou tea customs were showcased.
Tea is a treasure of traditional Chinese culture and a shared spiritual bond among compatriots across the Strait. Although Nantong is not a traditional tea-producing area, it has a profound heritage of tea drinking and transmission.
This event established a new platform for tea culture exchange between Nantong and Taiwan. Taking advantage of the event, both parties reached a consensus on skill exchanges and resource sharing, exploring new paths for the collaborative development of the cross-Strait tea culture industry.
