Sun Chunmei, a deputy to the National People's Congress and owner of Happy Farm in Tongzhou district, Nantong, felt inspired and keenly aware of her responsibility as this year's government work report placed a strong emphasis on common prosperity.

Last year, Sun helped transform 134 mu (about 8.93 hectares) of idle land into what she calls the "Plowing and Reading Commune", a project combining production, study tours, and agricultural tourism.

Her Happy Farm has also grown into a comprehensive operation combining organic planting, ecological sightseeing, and technical training, becoming a quiet driver of local rural vitalization.

Still, Sun is honest about the obstacles to achieving a higher level of common prosperity. One is a shortage of talent, while the other is insufficient financial support.

She hopes for national policies that cultivate agricultural technological talent, create incentives for young people to return to rural areas, prioritize rural talent when it comes to funding and resources, and develop financial products that keep pace with agricultural innovation.

Looking ahead to the next five years, Sun aims to deepen initiatives at the Plowing and Reading Commune, strengthen the farmer-partnership model, and grow a local agricultural brand through e-commerce livestreams.
