To be an effective member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, one must engage thoroughly in research, amplify the voices of the people, and put forward robust development strategies.

This perspective is championed by Shi Weidong, a member of the CPPCC National Committee and a professor at Nantong University in Jiangsu province.

Shi's work spans both overarching developmental goals and practical livelihood issues. As the leader of the mechanical engineering discipline, a standout field in Jiangsu's higher education sector, he has focused on advancing new quality productive forces. He has conducted thorough research on the promotion and optimization of intelligent busbars to enhance the construction of modern power systems. His proposals have provided significant guidance for State Grid's initiatives to standardize, digitize, and industrialize intelligent busbars.

In grassroots governance, Shi has visited local community service centers and social work organizations to gather insights. The Ministry of Civil Affairs has recognized his proposal to develop a high-quality community workforce.

Shi is also dedicated to the healthy development of minors and adolescents. "This year, I plan to offer suggestions on safeguarding and ensuring the healthy growth of minors," he said. "I hope to create a safe, healthy, and harmonious environment for their development."

Recently, Shi visited enterprises and research platforms, including Jiangsu Aerospace Hydraulic Equipment and the National Research Center of Pumps at Jiangsu University. He gathered materials and information on science and technology, the economy, education, agriculture, rural areas and farmers (known as sannong), and environmental protection. This preparation is for his participation in this year's national two sessions.

The two sessions are the annual meetings of China's leading legislative and political advisory bodies, which open on March 5 and 4, respectively, this year.
