Jiangsu Aolan Glass Co, located in Chongchuan district, has recently developed a special kind of glass for lightweight, transparent submersibles capable of operating at depths of over a kilometer.
Created in cooperation with the Shanghai Institute of Ceramics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, this high-performance material is engineered for extreme deep-sea conditions. It offers exceptional pressure resistance and optical clarity, serving as a reliable observation window while minimizing submersible weight and improving operational efficiency.
The special glass has now been industrialized and applied in practical real-world scenarios. "Due to the product's excellent high-pressure resistance, high transparency, and corrosion resistance, we are expanding its real-world applications to things such as transparent oxygen helmets for underwater walking and underwater viewing corridors," said Huang Lisha, chairman of the company.
As a leading coated glass production base in East China, Aolan Glass has been dedicated to the research and development of high-end glass materials since its establishment in 2009. The company has filed over 100 patents, and its products are exported to Australia, Southeast Asia, Africa, and other countries and regions.
