Rugao Customs recently issued a China–ASEAN Free Trade Area Certificate of Origin for a batch of high-value tractors exported by Scania Manufacturing China to Malaysia. Valued at more than 3 million yuan ($421,000), the shipment is expected to qualify for tariff reductions exceeding 900,000 yuan.

As one of the world's leading heavy truck manufacturers, Scania's Rugao production base marks a key milestone with its start of operations and first product exports. This certification enables Scania's exports to enjoy ultra-low or zero tariffs in ASEAN markets and enhances its worldwide supply chain.

The move also demonstrates Rugao Customs' commitment to delivering accurate services for major foreign-invested projects and consistently enhancing the local business environment, significantly supporting the city's export-driven economy.

To facilitate smooth exports, Rugao Customs established a specialist service team to support the company. This team provided comparative analyses of tariff concessions across various free trade agreements and offered customized customs clearance solutions, including targeted guidance on rules of origin and certification processes. Rugao Customs has also promoted an "intelligent review + self-printing" model for certificates of origin, effectively reducing time and transport costs.
