The "Across China" program on CCTV broadcast part of Rudong county in Nantong, Jiangsu province, on Sept 11. Rudong, a land shaped by sea winds, is harnessing the wind as its sail and tapping into the sea for development.
From being known as the "Hometown of Seafood in China" to becoming "China's Leading County in Offshore Wind Power", Rudong has taken its place at the forefront of green transformation.
It boasts 86 kilometers of coastline and 3,000 hours of available and stable wind power. Since 2002, the country's first intertidal wind farm and China's largest single offshore wind farm have both been established here. The county's offshore wind power capacity accounts for 41 percent of Jiangsu's total.
Rudong pioneered the fishery-photovoltaic complementary power generation model and built LNG storage tanks on the Sunshine Island, with an annual unloading capacity exceeding 20 million metric tons.
Rudong has built a future-oriented energy base through more than 10 years of solid exploration.
