Classic meets craft: Chongchuan's cultural fusion event
Two communities in Tangzha town, Chongchuan district, hosted a cultural event at the 1895 Cultural and Creative Industrial Park on Aug 19. The event blended the timeless elegance of Shijing (The Book of Songs) with pottery artistry, providing residents with an immersive cultural experience.
The event featured a researcher from the Chinese Poetry Research Center who delivered a lecture on Shijing. He discussed topics ranging from ancient agricultural wisdom to emotional expression in poetry. His clear and engaging explanations helped participants appreciate the enduring significance of these classics.
Afterward, under the guidance of a pottery artist, participants tried their hands at pottery making. They placed prepared clay onto the pottery wheel and shaped it into various forms, immersing themselves into this traditional Chinese technique.
Looking ahead, Tangzha town intends to expand on "classics + intangible cultural heritage" events, making ancient crafts more accessible and strengthening the link between tradition and young generations.
