The embassy of Sweden in China hosted a celebration in Beijing on June 6 to mark Sweden's National Day. Among the highlights of the event was the participation of Scania, the renowned Swedish provider of transport solutions, which set up a dedicated booth to showcase its latest model — the Super — drawing the attention of numerous guests.
Hua Chunying, vice-minister of foreign affairs of China, visited the Scania booth, where Mats Harborn, head of Traton China Office, introduced the latest developments of Scania's industrial production base in Rugao, Jiangsu province.
"This year marks the 60th anniversary of Scania's entry into China," Harborn said. "Our participation in this celebration reflects our strong commitment to deepening China-Sweden economic ties. We aim to continue serving as a bridge to promote mutual benefit and cooperation, helping elevate China's logistics and transport industry to new heights."
China has become a key strategic market for Scania. The Rugao production base, scheduled to begin operations in the fourth quarter of 2025, will be Scania's third global industrial production center following those in Europe and South America. It is also set to become the group's most advanced and sustainable manufacturing facility worldwide.
David Kallsater, managing director of Scania Sales (China), said: "Scania is dedicated to engaging more closely with Chinese customers. We are committed to identifying unmet needs in the Chinese market and delivering more diverse, flexible, and efficient transport solutions."
