Rudong sees festive spending surge

Rudong county's consumer market was bustling with energy during the recent Dragon Boat Festival and Children's Day holiday, as both foot traffic and sales figures recorded notable growth. Key commercial districts in the county achieved total sales exceeding 16.3 million yuan ($2.27 million), marking a 2 percent year-on-year increase.
The vibrant atmosphere at Xirun City drew particular attention, thanks to a series of themed events. A hands-on lacquerware inlay workshop incorporated traditional Dragon Boat Festival elements such as mugwort and dragon boats. The "Fun Science Lab" captivated children and parents with engaging science experiments, while young performers lit the stage with songs and dances. The various family-friendly activities attracted over 120,000 visitors, surpassing the shopping mall's revenue of 4.5 million yuan.
Riverside Impression, a commercial block, was lively. The area's Beer and Crayfish Festival offered a relaxed setting for friends to enjoy good food, cold drinks, and live music. Meanwhile, the antique market, featuring porcelain, paintings, and calligraphy, attracted collectors and culture lovers. Other activities included a zongzi-making contest, parent-child reading sessions, and herbal sachet making. The site welcomed over 50,000 visitors and generated over 1.5 million yuan in sales during the holiday.
Rudong's dining sector also saw a surge in popularity, with restaurants rolling out special festive menus and creative experiences that added extra flavor to the celebrations. Hotels launched customized packages catering to diverse consumer needs, boosting holiday consumption.
