Jiangsu Haibao New Energy, located in Rudong county, Nantong, delivered a strong performance in the first quarter of 2025, with sales exceeding 500 million yuan ($69.44 million) and production surpassing 3 million batteries. The output value marked a 90 percent year-on-year increase.

Haibao specializes in high-safety, high-temperature and ultra-low temperature resistant, and long-cycle lead-acid battery technology.

According to Yang Haitao, chief technical engineer at Haibao, temperatures in Southeast Asia and Africa often soar to 40–50 C and ordinary batteries tend to degrade rapidly in such climates. To address this, the company developed a heat-resistant lead-acid battery, optimizing the active material formula and grid corrosion resistance, achieving a lifespan of two to three years even under extreme conditions — well above industry averages.

This breakthrough has helped Haibao secure major contracts. Chinese smartphone giant Transsion has partnered with Haibao as it expands into the electric bike market. Earlier this year, Yadea, a leading Chinese electric bike brand, also formed a strategic partnership with the company.

Haibao is also investing in a full-cycle lead resource industry chain. In March, the company began trial operations of a recycling facility in Dayu town, aimed at the comprehensive and eco-friendly reuse of waste lead-acid batteries. The recycled lead is already being used in Haibao's own battery production.

In terms of safety, Haibao's lead-acid batteries offer a key advantage. "Unlike lithium batteries, lead-acid batteries are composed entirely of inorganic materials and carry no combustion risk," Yang noted. This high level of safety has made Haibao a preferred supplier for top-tier electric bike manufacturers.
