Nantong's Haohe River Scenic Area shines during May Day holiday
During the May Day holiday, Haohe River Scenic Area in Nantong ranked 18th among China's top 50 5A-level tourist attractions by visitor volume, according to a list released by China Unicom. 5A is the highest rating in China's scenic spot rating system.
The area reported 973,400 "extended-stay" visitors (those staying over one hour), surpassing the national average of 546,000 per site and contributing to a total of 27.3 million "extended-stay" visitors across the top 50 destinations.
To enhance the holiday experience, the scenic area leveraged the 2025 Nantong Jianghai International Cultural and Tourism Festival to organize several events, offering visitors traditional cultural products, creative souvenirs, and local delicacies.
The second Haohe River Cycling Event also kicked off at the Haohe Tourist Center on May 4, attracting over 200 cycling enthusiasts nationwide. Participants embarked on an 8-kilometer urban exploration along the green cycling belt encircling the Haohe River.
