A Rudong art and calligraphy exhibition opened at the National Art Museum of China in Beijing on April 12. Running through April 23, the exhibition showcases 67 outstanding works by 65 artists from Rudong county, highlighting the vitality and cultural richness of grassroots artistic creation in the new era.
A special section of the exhibition is dedicated to Rudong Farmers' Paintings, highlighting 16 folk artworks that vividly portray daily life and the unique charm of fishing communities. These pieces offer a glimpse into the vibrant traditions of the region.
Rudong has promoted the integration of visual arts with rural vitalization and industrial transformation through supportive policies, infrastructure development, and talent cultivation. This effort has given rise to a generation of celebrated artists and calligraphers such as Fang Bingshan, Wang Dongling, and Ding Jie, many of whom have contributed to major national and provincial art projects.
Among the highlights of the exhibition is a 21.8-meter-long ink scroll titled "New Look of Rudong's Three Rivers and Six Banks" created by renowned Rudong-born artist Ding Jie. Crafted over ten days, this piece captures the beauty of Rudong's landscapes — its flowers, trees, bridges, and roads — while expressing the artist's deep affection for his hometown.
