Jiangsu Longchang Chemical, located in Rugao, Nantong, has been approved for a national key R&D project to develop a new high-efficiency soil conditioner to reduce cadmium contamination. The project targets key crops such as rice, wheat, and vegetables, aiming to provide technological support for restoring cadmium-polluted farmland and promoting sustainable agricultural development.

The project is set to run until 2027. "By 2026, we plan to scale up production through pilot testing and conduct field trials. By 2027, we aim to complete the project's final evaluation and implement demonstrations in Hunan province, Changshu in Jiangsu province, and Jiyuan in Henan province, covering over 1,333 hectares," said Yang Zhangpeng, assistant to the chairman of Longchang Chemical.

From a small chemical additives factory to China's leading high-tech enterprise specializing in chlorinated aromatic waste disposal, Longchang Chemical has transformed through continuous innovation. In 2025, the company aims to expand new material sales to 10,000 metric tons and achieve an annual revenue of 500 million yuan ($68.85 million).
