Sijia town attracts innovative projects, talents to boost high-end manufacturing industry
In recent years, Sijia town, located in Nantong's Haimen district, has drawn numerous manufacturing companies focusing on innovation-driven development.
Since the beginning of this year, the town has introduced nine science and technology projects, with a total investment of 210 million yuan ($28.92 million). Among them is Geron Card Clothing (Jiangsu) Co Ltd, a leader in the textile combing equipment industry.
As the only publicly listed company in China's textile equipment sector and the sole recipient of the National Quality Award in the textile machinery industry, Geron Card Clothing has set a number of benchmarks for the industry. Over its 37-year history, the company has prioritized independent innovation, filling several gaps in China's card clothing industry, securing nearly 100 patents, and serving as the primary drafter of multiple national and industry standards.
This year, Geron integrated 5G technology into its operations, making its production processes more automated, intelligent, and environmentally friendly. The upgrade has also opened up more collaboration opportunities along the industrial supply chain.
In addition to attracting leading companies, Sijia town is actively recruiting top-tier talents to drive technological innovation. This year alone, the town welcomed 15 high-level professionals, including three PhDs and 12 postgraduates, further strengthening its innovation ecosystem.
