Fudong Biotechnology (Nantong) Co Ltd, located in the Dongbuzhou Science City of Haimen's Linjiang New Area, received the Excellence Award in the startup category at the 13th China Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition for Biomedicine on Nov 21.

It was the only company from Nantong to win an award.

Founded in 2023, Fudong Biotechnology specializes in developing innovative drug delivery platforms based on "biomimetic zwitterions". Its core team hails from Fudan University's State Key Laboratory of Molecular Engineering of Polymer. The company has pioneered a zero-order drug delivery system, a groundbreaking technology that addresses challenges in delivering biological macromolecule drugs orally or through eye drops. Fudong has already initiated preliminary collaborations with several multinational pharmaceutical companies.

The 13th China Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition featured national finals in five key sectors: new-generation information technology, advanced equipment manufacturing, new materials, biomedicine, and new energy and environmental technologies. Over 4,700 companies competed in the biomedicine category, with participants collectively holding nearly 5,000 patents. After fierce competition in 37 regional contests, more than 200 companies advanced to the national finals.

Three companies from Dongbuzhou Science City reached the national finals, including Fudong Biotechnology, Tianchen Runmu (Nantong) Biotechnology Co Ltd, and Tardigrade Health Technology (Nantong) Co Ltd, all of which delivered strong performances.
