Haimen strengthens industry-academia ties for innovation
To address the technological needs of local businesses, Haimen district in Nantong, Jiangsu province, has actively organized industry-academia collaboration activities throughout the year.
So far, the district has gathered 63 technical demands from innovation-driven enterprises and hosted 23 such activities. These efforts have resulted in 185 new collaborative projects between enterprises, universities, and research institutes.
Recently, representatives from Haimen attended the 7th Scientific Technology Fair for the Yangtze River Delta. During the opening ceremony, the organizers released the 2024 Yangtze River Delta Enterprise Technology Needs List, which included 10 technological demands from nine Haimen-based companies. These demands span-new materials, advanced manufacturing, integrated circuits, bioengineering, and electronic information.

Earlier this month, Tongguang Electronic Cable Co Ltd, a leading company in the district, proposed its need to develop a high-reliability optical power transmission monitoring sensor system. Upon learning about this cutting-edge demand, Haimen authority immediately connected the company with leading universities and research institutions, including Xi'an Jiaotong University. Discussions were also held with universities in Shanghai and Nanjing to explore potential technical solutions.
Academic and research institutions are working on breakthroughs to address this advanced technical challenge, demonstrating the district's commitment to fostering innovation and enhancing industry-academia cooperation.
