Nantong guesthouse recognized at national level
Sheyuan Guesthouse, located in Tangjiazha, a historic area in Chongchuan district, Nantong, was recently certified by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism as a national Category C guesthouse.
The name Sheyuan is inspired by a poem by Tao Yuanming, a renowned poet during the Eastern Jin Dynasty (317-420), symbolizing the joy of discovering life's beauty and nature's charm during each stroll through the garden.
The guesthouse's design draws from Nantong's intangible cultural heritage, showcasing a deep respect for and dedication to preserving local traditions. Its interior skillfully balances the elegance and tranquility of traditional Chinese aesthetics with the convenience and comfort of modern design.
Sheyuan also hosts regular public events, including cultural lectures and hands-on experiences with intangible cultural heritage, offering guests a chance to enjoy a serene, slow-living experience in a unique boutique setting.
In 2021, China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism redefined the classification system for guesthouses, replacing the previous three-star to five-star system with three new categories: Category A, B, and C. Category C refers to standard guesthouses catering to a broad audience.
