Cultural exchange event promotes Zhang Jian's legacy
A cultural exchange event aimed at promoting the historical achievements of Zhang Jian was held at Tangzha Shangshuyuan in Nantong's Chongchuan district on Sept 25.
International student representatives from the International Education College of Nantong University were invited to participate in this event.
Guided by interpreters, the international students visited the Zhang Jian Family Education Exhibition Hall and the Tangzha Impression Exhibition Hall. By exploring historical artifacts and materials displayed in various exhibition halls, they gained a deeper understanding of the industrial development, historical significance, cultural essence, and development blueprint of Tangzha, enhancing their appreciation of Zhang's cultural legacy.
At the Zhang Jian Family Education Exhibition Hall, Gu Zhenghong, vice-president of the Tangzha Calligraphy and Painting Institute, explained the essential elements of calligraphy works and guided the international students to write the characters for "family(家)" and "harmony(和)", allowing them to experience the charm of Chinese culture through writing.

During the event, honorary titles were awarded to ambassadors promoting Zhang's cultural heritage. An international student named Yi Cai in Chinese, who also serves the ambassador for Zhang's culture, wanted to deepen his understanding of Zhang's culture through more such exchange activities. Yi also hoped to leave their mark in Nantong, serving as a bridge for cultural exchange between China and other countries.
The event concluded with international students trying on traditional hanfu clothing, participating in tea and food preparation with teachers, and immersing themselves in folk culture, fostering a greater appreciation for China's rich traditional heritage.
