7 Nantong museums win national recognition

Seven museums in Nantong, Jiangsu province, recently won national recognition at the 10th Chinese Museums and Relevant Products and Technologies Exposition.

Chinese Charity Museum was transformed from the former site of the Dasheng Cotton Mill, which was established by Nantong native Zhang Jian (1853-1926). The museum displays traditional Chinese charity culture and the achievements made by charitable causes in China. More than 3,000 items are featured, including 600 national-level cultural relics such as ancient books, wood carvings, and inscriptions.

Rugao Museum is a comprehensive museum engaged in education, collection, exhibition, and research. The museum comprises both permanent and temporary exhibitions involving culture, nature, renowned figures, Rugao's 6,000-year history and unique animals and plants.

Jiangsu Jianghai Museum includes exhibition zones for Jianghai Culture and Zhang Jian, a renowned industrial magnate, educator, and scholar in Haimen, two exhibition zones for temporary exhibitions, and one exhibition zone for outstanding local culture.

Hai'an Museum was established in the former residence of Han Guojun, governor of Jiangsu province for two terms. Built in 1906, the 8,500-square-meter structure is a well-preserved building complex following the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) style.

Li Changyu Museum of Criminal Investigation is the first of its kind in the world and showcases the life of Li Changyu, a skilled detective born in Rugao in 1938. It explores his research into criminal investigation through photos, words, videos, and real objects.

Audit Museum, the only one of its kind in China, explores the audit systems in China throughout different historical periods.

Nantong Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture is committed to preserving Chinese culture, promoting TCM and knowledge on health maintenance, and engaging in preventive treatment of diseases.
