Nantong brand shines at Paris Olympics
Floriane Issert, a non-commissioned officer of the French National Gendarmerie, clad in silver armor and carried the Olympic flag into the Trocadero during the opening ceremony of the 33rd Summer Olympics on July 27, impressing global spectators.
The silver boots that complemented her armor were from Both Paris, an independent footwear brand under Atechs Footwear, a company based in Nantong, Jiangsu province.
Both Paris is headquartered in Paris. In mid-June, the Both team organized a fashion show by the Seine River, showcasing the stylish and elegant knight boots. The boots caught the eye of the Paris Olympics theme styling team, leading to its ultimate appearance at the opening ceremony.
The connection between Atechs Footwear and the Olympics dates back to the 1988 Seoul Olympics. The then Nantong Second Rubber Factory, which was the predecessor of Atechs, developed a pair of wrestling shoes for the famous Japanese running shoe brand ASICS, which was used in the Seoul Olympics.
Today, Atechs Footwear has evolved from an original equipment manufacturer to a shoe company with its own brand and global influence. Atechs' subsidiary, Welland Sports and Leisure Products Co Ltd, has experienced explosive growth in the e-commerce field, with sales reaching 1.9 billion yuan ($263.22 million) on Nov 11 last year.
