Haimen's GDP up 7.3% in Q1
The GDP of Haimen district in Nantong, Jiangsu province reached 43.24 billion yuan ($5.97 billion) in the first quarter of this year, a year-on-year increase of 7.3 percent, according to authorities.
The total industrial output value of the district's large-scale industries surged by 15.6 percent year-on-year, while industrial electricity consumption reached 1.80 billion kilowatt-hours, a growth rate of 12.2 percent.
Haimen achieved a total output value of 2.13 billion yuan in the agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishery industries, a 3.5 percent year-on-year increase, while the sown area for vegetables and edible fungi across the district reached 121,000 mu (8,066.67 hectares), with a total output of 159,000 metric tons, up 3.5 percent.
From January to February, the operating income of key service industries in Haimen rose by 13.3 percent, with the operating income of the software and information technology services industry growing by 31.5 percent, and the operating income of the scientific research and technical services industry increasing by 38.8 percent.
