The intelligent factory belonging to GalaxySpace, located in the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area (NETDA), has made the mass production of satellites possible.
Using assembly robots, intelligent equipment, and digital manufacturing systems, the production line is capable of manufacturing all kinds of satellites weighing from 100 kilograms to 2,000 kg.
Cheng Ming, director of the factory, noted that although intelligent factories are common in China, they are still in the initial stages in the aerospace industry.
Transforming the traditional manual assembly of satellites into assembly line production is key to mass production, Cheng added.
He said that each upgrading of the intelligent factory's production lines has been supported by scientific innovation, making GalaxySpace, one of China's most valuable commercial aerospace enterprises, an example of new quality productive forces in the commercial aerospace industry.
In 2020, GalaxySpace built its intelligent factory in NETDA, and since then it has not only formed an R&D team in aerospace and intelligent manufacturing, but also cooperated with hundreds of universities, enterprises, and institutes in developing satellites, constellation networking, and the application of satellites.
Cheng revealed that as a representative of strategic emerging industries, GalaxySpace will play a leading role in promoting the development of the satellite industry in Nantong and the province as a whole.
