The Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism recently announced that two public cultural venues in Haimen district, Nantong, Jiangsu province have been recognized as the most stunning public cultural venues.
The selected venues are the Haimen Folk Song Exhibition Hall and the Zhang Jian Memorial House, both of which offer unique and enriching experiences.
The Haimen Folk Song Exhibition Hall, spanning 300 square meters and unveiled to the public in June 2023, is a comprehensive exhibition space seamlessly blending the display of Haimen folk song culture with the Haimen folk song cultural experience center.
The hall emphasizes the historical, regional, and cultural essence of Haimen folk songs, providing visitors with a deep understanding of this rich cultural heritage.
Situated in Chengle town, the hometown of Zhang Jian, the Zhang Jian Memorial House boasts an interior architecture styled after the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and early Republic of China era (1911-49), skillfully fusing traditional Chinese architectural aesthetics with Western influences.
Within its walls, visitors can explore displays of historical materials related to Zhang Jian, the Zhang Family Ancestral Hall, a cultural corridor, and the ancient Ginkgo tree of Haimen. Additionally, the venue features distinctive landscapes such as lakes, bridges, and pavilions, offering a holistic cultural experience.
