The online platform for the study of Zhang Jian (1853-1926), a renowned industrial magnate, educator, and scholar in Nantong, was launched at the Nantong University library on Dec 19.

The platform has so far collected more than 20,000 pieces of literature involving books, periodicals, papers, pictures, and videos, including 4,881 of special literature and 96 of rare literature.

In recent years, the universities, archives centers, and research institutes in the city have sorted out historical study materials about Zhang as well as records about the enterprises and public institutions established by the Nantong native.

The launch of the online study platform marks a solid step of the study of Zhang Jian, which will not only promote Zhang's entrepreneurial spirit, but also be of great importance to the cross-region, interdisciplinary, and cross-language study of the man.
