Students at Chongchuan Primary School in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, tried their hands at paper cutting and palm leaf weaving on Dec 15.

Li Haifeng, inheritor of Nantong paper cutting, introduced the history and cultural background of paper cutting to help them get a preliminary understanding of the traditional craft and then demonstrated how to cut an exquisite work out of a piece of paper.

Cao Guihua, inheritor of Nantong palm leaf weaving techniques, was also invited to show students how to weave palm leaves into different figures.

Guided by the two inheritors, students cut the Chinese character "春" and weaved vivid animals with palm leaves all by themselves.
