Rugao Library recognized as national first-class library

The Rugao Library was recently named a first-class library by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. This is the sixth time since 1998 that it has achieved the honor.
The library, founded in 1917 and rebuilt in 2011, covers an area of 10,153 square meters and has 12 service windows and over 800 seats for readers.
As of the end of 2022, the library had a collection of 1 million books, including 30,706 ancient books and more than 3,900 local documents. It also has 60 terabytes of digital resources.
The library has also won many other honors. It has been designated as a national science popularization education base, a member unit of the China Ancient Books Protection Association, and a Jiangsu province ancient books protection unit.
In addition, the library has a beautiful environment and has created 10 scenic spots for readers. It was also named the most beautiful public cultural space in Jiangsu province in March this year.
