Innovation boosts thriving high-tech firms in Hai'an
Hai'an, a county-level city in Nantong, Jiangsu province, has been driving technological innovation in recent years, contributing to the growth of numerous high-tech enterprises.
In early November, 20 companies from Hai'an were included in the 2023 provincial technology enterprise listing program, more than anywhere else in Nantong.
The surge in the number of high-tech enterprises can be partly attributed to strong support from the local government. Hai'an has been implementing a three-year action plan for nurturing high-tech enterprises. The objective is to draw in 620 new science and technology projects, elevate the number of high-tech enterprises to over 700, and facilitate the listing of three new tech companies on the stock market by 2025.
To achieve this goal, Hai'an has been seeking to attract innovative projects. The county has formed four specialized investment teams, deploying over 120 full-time investment professionals. They have held a total of 53 investment events.
As a result, in the first three quarters of this year, Hai'an attracted 155 projects related to science and technology and 226 new collaborative projects between academia and industry.
Additionally, Hai'an has established close partnerships with several domestic universities and research institutes, including the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Nanjing University, which have helped Hai'an enterprises meet over 300 technical requirements with the assistance of 84 technical talents from universities.
