Chongchuan district in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, has been focusing on attracting high-end talent in recent years.

Since the beginning of this year, the district has recruited five post-doctoral researchers, with an additional three currently engaged in negotiations. To date, a total of 32 doctoral researchers have been admitted to research stations in Chongchuan.

To attract more post-doctoral researchers, additional subsidies were provided for post-doctoral research stations, according to the latest policies launched by Nantong. For every post-doctoral researcher hired, the unit receives a one-time research fund subsidy of 200,000 yuan ($27,966).

"Our newly-implemented district-level talent policy also strengthens incentives. For station-based doctoral researchers who receive funding from the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation and Jiangsu Provincial Outstanding Postdoctoral Program, we provide a matching subsidy based on the amount of funding received," said a representative from the district's bureau of human resources and social security.

At present, Chongchuan leads the city in both the number of post-doctoral research stations established and the amount of talent recruited. Fields of expertise include ship and marine engineering, electronic information, intelligent manufacturing, new energy, and new materials, contributing significantly to regional scientific and technological innovation.
