Motou town in Rugao, a county-level city in Nantong, Jiangsu province, was recently named among the first batch of national strong agricultural towns by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Ministry of Finance.

Motou town is an agricultural town centered on the flower and bonsai industry.

In recent years, the town has been working to develop the flower and bonsai industry and has achieved a total output of 3.28 billion yuan ($449.12 million) for the entire industrial chain.

The flower and bonsai industry has absorbed more than 3,000 surplus rural laborers and a large number of high-quality industrial demonstration production bases have been built.

The town also promoted cooperation among enterprises, plantations, cooperatives and farmers, extending the flower and bonsai industrial chain.
