Hearing impaired Geng Xuebin, a 36-year-old paper cutting artist from Anhui province, recently cut a complicated butterfly out of a piece of red paper in only 10 minutes at a cultural and art industrial park in Hai'an, Nantong, Jiangsu province.
Because of a high fever in childhood, Geng lost his hearing, but he was gifted with artistic talent. After settling down in Hai'an, he started devoting himself to traditional Chinese art such as paper cutting and traditional Chinese painting.

Since winning a gold award at the Chinese Arts and Crafts Masters Competition in 2015, Geng has received honors in paper cutting, traditional Chinese painting, wax printing, and making paper by hand following ancient methods.
The artist has been dreaming of setting up an art education institution to teach what he has learned to more people. "I will further promote these traditional Chinese arts and use them to tell the world the Chinese story," said Geng.
