Music culture-themed show kicks off in Nantong

A music culture-themed exhibition was held at Qidong Museum in Qidong, East China's Jiangsu province on July 7, Nantong Daily reported.
This year marks the 80th anniversary of the excavation of the royal tomb of Wang Jian, king of the Shu State during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms (907-960).

The exhibition includes 43 impressions of musical instruments. They are imitations of the stone reliefs of 24 music performers at the royal tomb, reproducing the then court singing and dancing scene, and include musical instruments such as pipa (a traditional lute), transverse flute, and drum.
Renowned musical instrument maker Shen Zhengguo was invited to make the imitated instruments.

The exhibition was sponsored by the Chengdu municipal bureau of culture, broadcasting, television, and tourism and the Rugao municipal bureau of culture, broadcasting, television, and tourism and organized by Yongling Museum, which was built on the base of the royal tomb, and Qidong Museum.

Yongling Museum also gives lectures about calligraphy, painting, poetry, and music to uncover the value of stone reliefs and promote the music culture during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms (907-960).
The exhibition will run until Oct 8.
