CIMC Enric Holdings Ltd, a leading clean energy equipment supplier in China, recently unveiled its first 40-foot liquid hydrogen tank container at its base in Nantong, Jiangsu province.

The container provides an optimized solution for large-scale, long-distance and multimodal hydrogen transportation.

Hydrogen energy, known as the ultimate clean energy, is considered a crucial pathway for achieving peak carbon emissions and carbon neutrality. The storage and transportation of hydrogen are key factors for the safe and efficient utilization of hydrogen energy, as well as the large-scale commercialization of hydrogen applications.

Xiao Zhenhua, general manager of Nantong CIMC Energy Equipment Co Ltd, the main export base of CIMC Enric, said that compared to high-pressure gaseous hydrogen, liquid hydrogen storage and transportation offer advantages such as high purity, large transport capacity, low long-distance transportation costs, and high refueling efficiency.

According to Xiao, one liquid hydrogen tank container is equivalent to at least six hydrogen tube trailers. These containers are not only suitable for multimodal transportation but also contribute to the rapid industrialization and promotion of the hydrogen energy industrial chain.

Liquid hydrogen can provide ultra-pure hydrogen gas for industrial production in sectors such as semiconductors, electronic vacuum materials, electronic components, silicon wafers, and optical fibers.
