Fresh lotus roots harvested in Rugao
Farmers in Changjiang community, Changjiang town, Rugao, a county-level city of Nantong in Jiangsu province, have been busy harvesting fresh lotus roots.
The community has more than 300 mu (20 hectares) of lotus root fields.
The town is located in the Yangtze River area and has an abundance of water resources and excellent water quality.
Local farmers are making full use of these resources to grow shallow-water lotus roots, which has become a new way for local farmers to make money through the "water economy".
