A signing ceremony for 36 projects to be built in Tongzhou district, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, took place on June 29.

With a total investment of 21.64 billion yuan (2.99 billion), the projects are expected to improve industrial chains and boost overall industry in the district.

This signing ceremony is the result of Tongzhou's effort to promote and attract investment in the second quarter of this year.

In recent years, Tongzhou has regarded investment attraction as the main driver of its economy.

A number of work teams for investment promotion in the Nantong National High-tech Industrial Development Zone, a service center for investment and towns, sub-districts and enterprises have been set up to attract more projects.

Due to the increasing number of high-quality projects, Tongzhou is expected to see its GDP increase by 8 percent year-on-year in the first half of this year.

In addition, the general public budget of the district is expected to reach 4.1 billion yuan, while the taxable turnover of industries above the designated size and the service industry are expected to increase 13 percent and 30 percent year-on-year, respectively.
