Two farmers' cooperatives in Tongzhou district, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, were recently designated as national-level demonstration farmers' cooperatives, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

One of them is the Nantong Baolv Vegetable Plantation Farmers' Cooperative, which is mainly engaged in the plantation and initial processing of vegetables.

The cooperative consists of a 360-square-meter processing factory, 1,200-cubic-meter refrigerated warehouse, 150-square-meter training room, and a demonstration plantation base spanning 420 mu (28 hectares).

In addition, the cooperative has unmanned aerial vehicles for plantation protection, two medium and large tractors, and three transport trucks.

Since its establishment in 2012, the cooperative has expanded its staff from 12 to the current 116.

The cooperative has to date generated an operating revenue of 4.63 million yuan ($650,043), with a surplus of 173,000 yuan being distributed to its members as dividends.

The other cooperative is the Tianmeng Grain Professional Cultivation Cooperative, which provides services that integrate high-quality grain plantation, operation of farm machinery, and grain processing.

The cooperative, established in 2015, is currently home to 109 members and has an annual operating revenue of about 10.9 million yuan.

Tongzhou is currently home to 23 demonstration farmers' cooperatives at the national level, 23 at the provincial level, and 29 at the municipal level.
