The Hai'an High-tech Industrial Development Zone in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, has been approved to establish a national-level postdoctoral research workstation, according to recent news from the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China.

The research workstation will adopt a "headquarters + branch" model. The seven branch units selected cover multiple fields such as new materials and intelligent equipment manufacturing, forming a complete industrial chain.

The zone will make use of the research facilities to gather scientific and educational resources, talent resources, enterprise resources, and policy resources as well as accelerate technology transfer and key technological research and development.

Postdoctoral research workstations serve as effective platforms for attracting and aggregating young scientific and technological talent and promoting the integration of industry and talent.

Hai'an is currently home to 28 postdoctoral research workstations at or above the provincial level, including 24 national-level workstations, the most in Nantong.

Among them is Jiangsu Welm Technology Co Ltd, which is one of seven national-level postdoctoral research branch stations in the county.

In recent years, the company has expanded its business to include automotive electronics and new energy storage by advancing talent recruitment and technological innovation.

"We will make full use of the platform provided by the national-level postdoctoral research branch station to improve the company's R&D capabilities and support its innovative development," said Gu Qun, deputy general manager of the company.

The enterprise has been designated a national high-tech enterprise and a national-level "little giant" enterprise.

In recent years, Hai'an has attracted 23 postdoctoral researchers, including six full-time postdoctoral fellows, that have helped generate sales revenue of 640 million yuan ($89.93 million) for local enterprises.
