Marine engineering, heavy equipment industries boom in Qidong

The FPSO Anna Nery, a floating production storage and offloading vessel refitted by Qidong Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry Co Ltd for Yinson Holdings Berhad of Malaysia, recently produced its first oil.

The ship is about 333 meters long, 58 meters wide, and 32 meters deep, and has a maximum height of about 148 meters above the water's surface. It is the largest oil tanker in both size and tonnage exported from the northern branch of the Yangtze River in recent years.

In recent years, Qidong Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry has been promoting deep-water key equipment and key technology research and development, and has strengthened its independent manufacturing capabilities for high-end FPSOs.

The company currently has two FPSO projects under construction, one of which is a P-82 FPSO with a designed oil storage capacity of 1.6 million barrels and a daily production capacity of 225,000 barrels of oil and 12 million cubic meters of natural gas. It is one of the largest-scale FPSO projects in the world.

In recent years, Qidong has been committed to building a world-renowned and top-notch marine engineering and heavy equipment industry base, promoting the upgrading of the industry to high-end marine equipment manufacturing.

In the first quarter of this year, Qidong's marine engineering and heavy equipment industries achieved an output value of 7.3 billion yuan ($1.03 billion), an increase of 18.3 percent year-on-year.
