The output value of above-designated-size industrial enterprises in the Qidong Marine Engineering and Shipbuilding Industrial Park in Qidong, a county-level city of Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province, totaled 7.3 billion yuan ($1.05 billion) in the first quarter of this year, a year-on-year increase of 27 percent.

The taxable sales of the park's above-designated-size enterprises reached 5.5 billion yuan, up 15 percent year-on-year.

In recent years, the park has accelerated the development of the marine engineering equipment manufacturing industry, attracting a number of important enterprises such as Qidong Cosco Marine Engineering Co Ltd, Sinopacific and Dong Fang International Container (Qidong) Co Ltd.

The aforementioned enterprises have been ramping up efforts to help the city's marine engineering equipment manufacturing industry develop and grow consistently.

For example, in the first quarter, Qidong Cosco Marine Engineering Co Ltd completed 1.53 billion yuan in taxable sales, a whopping increase of 97 percent year-on-year.

The park plans to continue to tap into its potential and strives to achieve an annual total industrial output value of over 30 billion yuan, according to Huang Haojie, Party secretary of the park.
