Qidong marine engineering equipment industry thrives

The world's first fourth-generation jack-up wind power installation vessel N966 was delivered by Qidong Cosco Marine Engineering Co Ltd in Qidong, Nantong on Dec 15.
The vessel boasts the largest lifting capacity of any vessel and was built for Europe's top dredging company. With a length of 181 meters, a width of 60 meters, a depth of 14.6 meters and a height of 131.94 meters, it can lift up to 3,200 metric tons and can operate up to 80 meters underwater.
"In my eyes, the R&D team of Cosco Marine Engineering is a 'Chinese National team'. Their learning ability and innovative spirit are amazing," said Mr. Chong (Chinese name Zhang Xuquan), who worked as quality inspection engineer of Cosco Marine Engineering from Malaysia to China and witnessed the completion of the vessel.
In the past 10 years, Qidong COSCO Marine Engineering has designed, built and delivered 52 pieces of marine engineering equipment, making it a leader in China's marine engineering equipment manufacturing industry.
From January to October, the output value of industrial enterprises above designated size in the city's Shipbuilding Industrial Park reached 20.5 billion yuan ($2.93 billion).
